Spain v Argentina: Our Best Bets for the World Cup Final
One game left, one last card to fill in. Whether you are having your one big punt of the summer or just a bit of interest to go with the Sunday-night pint, Spain v Argentina (8:00pm IST, MetLife) is the fixture the whole tournament has been building to. We have gone through the markets — the result, the goals, the correct score and the scorers — and picked out where we think the value actually sits. All prices are converted to fractional for Irish books and were accurate on the morning of 19 July; always take the live price before you commit.

The match result
The bookies lean Spain but they are not shouting about it. On the 90-minute line it is Spain around 5/4, the draw about 2/1 and Argentina 13/5; on the "to lift the trophy" market that settles after extra time and penalties, it is Spain around 4/6, Argentina around 11/8.
That looks about right on merit. Spain have conceded a single goal in seven games and are unbeaten in 37, and this is a final — the kind of tight, cagey occasion that suits the side who defend best. But 4/6 is a short price for a one-off against the only team to win all seven of their games. If you are backing a winner, Spain are the sound call; if you fancy value over safety, Argentina at 11/8 to lift is the play.
Goals: lean low
Here is where we think the real edge lives. Two of the meanest, most controlled sides in the tournament, in a final, with everything to lose — that is not a recipe for a shootout. Under 2.5 goals is around 8/13 and over 2.5 around 13/10; both teams to score is roughly 4/5 for "yes" and evens for "no." Spain’s clean-sheet habit and Argentina’s tendency to grind out one-goal knockouts both point the same way. Under 2.5 goals is our headline goals pick, with "no" to both teams scoring a sensible saver if you want to lean into Spain keeping it tight.
Correct score and the scorers
If the goals stay low, the correct-score board makes sense of it. Spain 1-0 is the market favourite at around 11/2, with the 1-1 draw about 19/4 and Spain 2-1 around 15/2; on the Argentina side, a 1-0 is around 8/1 and the goalless draw around 17/2. A one-goal Spain win is the shape the market expects, and it is hard to argue.
In the anytime-goalscorer market, Messi is the standout at around 3/2 — no surprise for a man chasing the Golden Boot and the all-time record — with Spain’s Oyarzabal around 8/5, Yamal about 12/5, and Lautaro Martínez, Ferran Torres and Julián Álvarez all around 13/5. Nico Williams is 31/10 and Fabián Ruiz a bigger price at 6/1 for those wanting a punt on a midfielder breaking the lock.
Building an acca and the Irish angle
If you like to dress the occasion up with a small accumulator, the pieces are there — under 2.5 goals, Spain to lift and Messi anytime scorer would give you a tidy treble at a fair price, though remember every leg you add is another way to lose. With Ireland out since the Czechia play-off, this is a pure neutral’s punt: no heart-over-head trap, just a market to read cold. ZotaBet and Blitz.bet are among the euro-facing books pricing the final, with odds in euro.
